SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – On the first day of the Skidmore Invitational Friday evening, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (23-9) emerged with two wins, defeating SUNY Plattsburgh, 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19), before knocking off Baruch College, 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 26-24, 27-25).

Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) tallied a team-high 17 digs against the Cardinals in the first match of the night, and junior middle hitter
Dana Vosilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) added 11 kills. Sophomore setter
Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) handed out 22 assists, while senior outside hitter
Melinda DiGiovanna (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) finished with seven kills.
For Plattsburgh, Theresa Lilly had 15 digs to go along with four kills, two total blocks and a service ace. Rosi Cummings provided 12 digs and eight kills, while Kayla Nason had 21 assists and Abby Mell recorded three total blocks.
DiGiovanna and King powered the Hawk offense in a four-set win over the Bearcats, collecting 20 kills and 53 assists, respectively. Hack shored up the defense with a team-high 21 digs.
New Paltz finishes up its regular-season slate tomorrow, as it takes on Union (N.Y.) College at 11 a.m. before finding itself opposite host Skidmore College at 1 p.m. Both matches will occur on the second and final day of the Skidmore Invitational.
