MAHWAH, N.J. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team (3-2-1) tied Ramapo College (1-2-2) on Friday afternoon in Mahwah, N.J., battling the Roadrunners to a 0-0 draw in non-conference action.
Junior goalkeeper
Stephanie Vega (Oceanside, N.Y./Baldwin Senior) notched a shutout, turning aside five shots in a full 110 minutes of play. Her counterpart, Talia Auslin, was forced into action 10 times in her clean-sheet effort, and Ramapo made one team save.
Offensively for New Paltz, freshman forward
Sarah Painter (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) and senior midfielder
Sherri Lajoie (River Edge, N.J./River Dell) tied for the team-high in shots with four, putting four and three on frame, respectively. The Hawks outshot the Roadrunners by an 18-13 margin and took five corner kicks to Ramapo's one.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m., taking on Bard College in a non-conference clash in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
