SALISBURY, Md. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (23-6) was edged in two five-set matches on the second day of the Salisbury Invitational on Sunday, falling, 3-2 (19-25, 25-14, 27-25, 23-25, 15-13) to Springfield College (21-5) before dropping a 3-2 (29-27, 31-29, 23-25, 19-25, 15-11) decision to Richard Stockton College (22-5). The Hawks finished the weekend 1-3 at the tournament.

Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Against Springfield, senior outside hitter
Michelle Jacobson had 19 kills and 21 digs, while junior setter
Marissa King floored four kills, dished out 52 assists and added 12 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Becca Borquist (Rhinebeck, N.Y./Rhinebeck) also enjoyed a strong match, boasting 10 kills and 25 digs.
In the Richard Stockton match, Jacobson landed 21 kills and came up with 24 digs, while King handed out 61 assists and collected 21 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Alex Bizub (Linden, N.J./Cranford) totaled 10 kills and 11 digs, while Hack joined the 30-dig club with 37 digs.
New Paltz hosts the second round of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) East Division Pool Play from Friday, Oct. 19, through Saturday, Oct. 20. The Hawks open on Friday with SUNY Plattsburgh at 3 p.m.
