New Paltz Men’s Soccer Tripped Up by Plattsburgh, 4-0

Box Score

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Four first half goals were too much to overcome as the State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team (5-6-1, 1-4-0 SUNYAC) fell to SUNY Plattsburgh (12-1-0, 3-1-0 SUNYAC), 4-0, in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup on Friday at the Fieldhouse Soccer Complex.

Plattsburgh's Matt Hamilton scored a pair of goals in the eighth and 31st minutes to lead the charge for the Cardinals. Ethan Votraw and Steve Zacharczyk picked up the other two netters to round up the scoring for Plattsburgh on the afternoon. Zacharczyk, Carlo Coladonato and Nick Pourakis each had an assist in the victory for the Cardinals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Steven Domino (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) suffered the loss after giving up four goals and making six stops. Zack Kruizenga earned the win for the Cardinals with help from John Toper and Mitchell Jordan, who each manned the net in the second half. The Cardinal keepers combined to make three saves on the afternoon and did not allow a ball to get by them.

Senior midfielder Shanshe Khosroshvili (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R. Murrow) led the Hawks with four shots, including two on target. New Paltz was outshot by Plattsburgh, 16-9, but the Hawks held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

New Paltz returns to action tomorrow, Oct. 6, with a road SUNYAC matchup with SUNY Potsdam. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
