New Paltz Men’s Swimming Upended by Ramapo, 142-109

MAHWAH, N.J. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team (2-1) lost its first dual meet of the year on Saturday afternoon, falling to Ramapo College (3-1) by a 142-109 score in Mahwah, N.J. Sophomore Marton Keri (Budapest, Hungary/Moricz Zsigmond Gimnazium) was the lone Hawk to touch first individually, as he charted the top time in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.64).

Sophomore Jack Spader (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:08.27), freshman Ethan Cooke (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) scored first-place points in the 100 butterfly (57.20) and freshman Ryan Lindgren (Hurley, N.Y./Kingston) took first in the 200 individual medley (2:21.39), but all three won events in which Ramapo entered as exhibition. The same thing went for the Hawks' 200 freestyle relay team of senior Bryan Farm (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South), Keri, junior Ethan Collins (Remsenburg, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) and freshman Brandon Finn (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland), which clocked a 1:33.40 standard to score first-place points.

True second-place finishes came from Spader in the 1,000 freestyle (10:41.72), Cooke in the 200 butterfly (2:12.58) and Finn in the 50 freestyle (23.52).

New Paltz has nearly a month off from competition with the Intercession break forthcoming, and it continues on with its meet schedule from Friday, Jan. 11, through Saturday, Jan. 12, in a tri-meet with the Rochester Institute of Technology and SUNY Geneseo.
