NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team looks to start its dual-meet schedule off with a win on Saturday, Nov. 2, as it takes on Ramapo College at 1 p.m. in its home opener at Elting Pool.
Records: New Paltz is 0-0 entering Saturday's meet, while Ramapo is 1-1 overall (0-1 NJAC).

Jack Spader will get his first chance this season to showcase his All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) distance freestyle ability, presuming he is entered in those events… Spader notched a third-place finish in the1,650 freestyle at the 2012 SUNYAC Swimming & Diving Championships.
Scouting the Roadrunners: Ramapo suffered a 156-95 setback at the hands of The College of New Jersey last Saturday… The 400 medley relay team made up of junior Phil Sokoloff, freshman RJ Carillo, junior Anthony Cusmano and freshman Philip Mathys placed third with a time of 3:42.87… Sophomore Brian Henningsen took second in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:29.08... Freshman Anthony Stanton finished third overall in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.80, while Mathys captured a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle when he touched the wall in 21.99… Freshman Kevin Fries placed third overall in 22.29 in the same event.
Last Meeting: (Meet Results): Ramapo downed New Paltz, 142-109, when the two teams last met on Dec. 8, 2012, in Mahwah, N.J… Then sophomore
Marton Keri was the lone Hawk to touch first individually, as he charted the top time in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.64)… New Paltz scored first-place points in the 500 freestyle, the 100 butterfly, the 200 individual medley and the 200 freestyle relay, but Ramapo had entered each of those events as exhibition… True second-place finishes came from then sophomore
Jack Spader in the 1,000 freestyle (10:41.72), then freshman
Ethan Cooke in the 200 butterfly (2:12.58) and then freshman
Brandon Finn in the 50 freestyle (23.52).
Head Coaches: New Paltz is directed by sixth-year head coach
Scott Whitbeck, while Ramapo is led by seventh-year head coach Gary Orr.
What's Next: New Paltz competes at the NYU Invitational next from Friday-Saturday, Nov. 8-9, at New York University in Manhattan. Friday's session beings at 5 p.m., while Saturday features a prelim/final format with start times of each session at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. Ramapo hosts the New Jersey Institute of Technology next on Saturday at 2 p.m.
