NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team will begin the home portion of its 2013-14 schedule when the Hawks host cross-river rival Vassar College at the Hawk Center on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m.

Records: The Hawks enter Thursday's game with a 0-2 mark. Vassar has a 2-0 record.
Series Record: New Paltz leads the series 13-3 in records dating back to the 1988-89 season… The Hawks have won the last four meetings, including a 62-47 victory in the last meeting on Nov. 20, 2007... Vassar's last victory came on Nov. 20, 1998, 56-46, at the Elmira Tournament.
Scouting the Hawks: Against a pair of strong West Coast teams, New Paltz dropped both games at the Lee Fulmer Memorial Tip-Off Classic hosted by the University of Redlands... The season opener against Chapman was a high-scoring affair, punctuated by a series of runs made by both teams, with Chapman prevailing 81-72… While the Hawks kept the game close throughout, Chapman made a late push to take a 41-32 lead at halftime, a margin the Panthers would not relinquish in the second half... Courtney Irby was named to the All-Tournament Team... Irby had 17 points and 13 rebounds in her intercollegiate debut against Chapman and added six points and 11 rebounds against Redlands.

Scouting Vassar: Led by senior Hannah Senftleber, who was named Tournament Most Valuable Player, the Brewers captured the VC Invitational last weekend with victories over Wellesley (55-41) and Brooklyn College (75-42)... In the championship game against Brooklyn, Senftleber had 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Statistical Leaders: Senior guard Cydni Matsuoka leads Vassar in scoring (15.0 ppg) and sophomore backcourt mate Caitlin Drakeley averages 12.5 ppg… Senftleber averages 12.5 ppg and leads Vassar in rebounding (8.5 rpg) and field goal percentage (.667).
Last Meeting: (Box Score): Played at Vassar on Nov. 20, 2007, the Hawks capitalized on 31 Vassar turnovers, converting those miscues into 30 points in breaking away from a 30-25 halftime lead to defeat the Brewers 62-47... For New Paltz, then senior guard/forward Amber Sohns scored a game high 13 points and added seven rebounds…. Then sophomore guard Kristen Caban scored 12 points.
