NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Fresh off a 69-47 victory over Mount Saint Mary College to break into the win column, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team will look to make it two straight wins when the Hawks host Western Connecticut State University at the Hawk Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.

Records: The Hawks enter Tuesday night's game with a 1-4 overall mark following a 69-47 victory over Mount Saint Mary College prior to the Thanksgiving break... Western Connecticut has a 4-1 record, having lost to Connecticut College, 66-50, on Nov. 26.
Scouting the Hawks: In their last game before break, the Hawks made quick work of Mount Saint Mary College, racing out to a 15-0 lead and cruising into halftime leading 36-14… In an opening 17-2 start, New Paltz saw eight different student-athletes score, led by an eight-point first half by senior forward
Jeanette Scott on perfect shooting from the floor (3-for-3) and free throw line (2-for-2)… The Hawks held MSMC to 18 percent field goal shooting and kept the pressure on in the second half… In the first 8:59 of the second half, the Hawks used a 16-5 run that was punctuated by a three-pointer by junior guard

Statistical Leaders: With her 10-point effort, Walker leads the Hawks in scoring (10.2 ppg), followed by Harrison (9.8 ppg)… Harrison leads in assists (3.0 apg) and steals (3.0 spg), which ranks second in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)... Freshman forward
Courtney Irby leads New Paltz in rebounding (9.6 rpg), which ranks fourth in the SUNYAC after five games.
Scouting the Colonials: After building 25-21 lead in the first half, the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team saw Connecticut College score the final 17 points of the first half to earn a 38-25 halftime lead, en route to a 66-50 victory over the Colonials on Dec. 3… Freshman guard Colleen Cosker led WestConn with nine points and six assists… Senior forward Sciarra Brandt had six rebounds, while also adding eight points... Western Connecticut started the season 4-0, with victories over Farmingdale State, Richard Stockton, Trinity College and Mount Saint Mary College -- a common opponent with New Paltz -- on Nov. 20.
Statistical Leaders: Brandt leads the team in scoring (11.6 ppg), followed by Cosker (10.0 ppg)… Cosker leads in assists (4.2 apg).
Last Meeting: (Box Score): A tough shooting night coupled with inopportune turnovers enabled visiting Western Connecticut to defeat the Hawks, 49-44, in a contest played at the Hawk Center on January 19, 2013… The loss was only the second of the season for a New Paltz team that rebounded two days later with a 67-47 victory over SUNY Potsdam… New Paltz played until the end, however, tying the game at 41-41 with 2:27 remaining... WestConn forward Sciarra Brandt gave the Colonials the lead on a jumper, and then the Colonials made six consecutive free throws to earn the victory.
What's Next: New Paltz begins State University of New York Athletic Conference play on Friday, Dec. 6, with a road game against SUNY Fredonia… Western Connecticut travels to University of Southern Maine for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 7.
