NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team will look to replicate its success from the Lee Fulmer Memorial Tip-Off Tournament, which occurred earlier this season, as the Hawks open up State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play this weekend against SUNY Fredonia and Buffalo State. New Paltz and Fredonia tip off at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, while New Paltz and Buffalo State square off on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m.

RECORDS: The Hawks enter Fredonia's Steele Hall Fieldhouse Friday night with a 2-4 overall record… Fredonia also holds a 2-4 overall mark… Buffalo State, which faces SUNY Oneonta on Friday night at the Buffalo State Sports Arena, is 2-3 overall.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS (2-4, 0-0): New Paltz hopped out to an early lead against Eastern Connecticut State University on Tuesday night in Willimantic, Conn., but the Warriors went on a 28-4 run to pull ahead and coast to a 77-53 non-conference win… Junior guard/forward R.J. Rosa drilled a three-pointer with 15:09 in the first half to give the Hawks their largest lead of the game at 12-6… Eastern Connecticut State responded with that 28-4 scoring spree and entered halftime with a 40-22 edge… The Warriors extended on their lead in the second stanza and held on to move to 6-1 overall… Rosa scored a career-high 16 points, while freshman forward Andrew Seniuk tied his career-high total with 16… Sophomore forward Alex Perlman scored 10 points in 15 minutes coming off the bench, while senior guard Andrew Joseph collected 10 rebounds.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Junior guard/forward Taylor Sowah leads the team in scoring (14.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.2 rpg)… Senior guard Andrew Joseph boasts the team lead in assists per game (3.3), while Sowah averages a team-best 1.2 steals per game… Joseph's 3.3 assists per game ranks ninth in the SUNYAC… Junior guard/forward R.J. Rosa sports the team's best per-game average in blocks (0.7)… Freshman forward Andrew Seniuk is just off the minimum qualification to be ranked among the SUNYAC leaders in field-goal percentage (5.0 made field goals per game), but he leads the Hawks in the statistical category (.684 off 26-of-38 shooting).

TEAM STATISTICS: New Paltz's defense is the second-best in the SUNYAC heading into this weekend, as it has allowed just 67.9 points per game… The Hawks are also limiting teams to 28.5 percent shooting from three-point range this year, which is the second-best defensive three-point field-goal percentage in the SUNYAC.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS (2-4, 0-0): After opening its season with a 98-89 win over Union (N.Y.) College, Fredonia has lost four of its past five contests, with its lone win during that span coming in the form of a 75-74 triumph over D'Youville College on Nov. 26… On Tuesday against Alfred University, senior guard/forward Tyrone Clark had a career day, but it was not enough to overcome a balanced Saxon attack that ended up prevailing, 100-90, over the Blue Devils… Clark led all scorers with 35 points, which he did off 14-of-17 shooting from the floor and 4-of-6 shooting from the line… Sophomore forward Alexander Grace and sophomore guard Robert Lyles added 14 and 12 points, respectively, while sophomore forward John Kovach chipped in 10 points coming off the bench… Sophomore center Matt Deboy grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Senior guard/forward Tyrone Clark paces the Blue Devil attack with 20.2 points per game, and he is tied for fourth in the SUNYAC in scoring… Sophomore center Matt Deboy leads the team and ranks sixth in the SUNYAC in rebounds per game (8.2)… Sophomore guard Robert Lyles is fifth in the conference and tops on the team in assists per game (4.6), while Clark leads the Blue Devils and is tied for fifth in the SUNYAC in steals per game (2.0).

TEAM STATISTICS: Fredonia ranks second in the SUNYAC in three-point field goal percentage (.361).

LAST MEETING: New Paltz won both games against Fredonia in the 2012-13 season, winning at Fredonia, 92-87, in double overtime on Nov. 30, 2012, before prevailing, 98-74, over the Blue Devils at the Hawk Center on Feb. 9, 2013… New Paltz has won six straight games against Fredonia dating back to the 2010-11 season.

SCOUTING THE BENGALS (2-3, 0-0): Buffalo State will host Oneonta on Friday night prior to playing New Paltz… The Bengals erased a 14-point second-half deficit and led late, but visiting Hobart College escaped with an 85-83 win on Nov. 26 at the Buffalo State Sports Arena… Hobart used a 6-0 run in the final three minutes of play to go ahead for good… Five Bengals reached double-digit scoring figures, led by senior forward Justin Mitchell, who poured in 22 points and completed the double-double with 15 rebounds… Junior guard Roderick Epps and sophomore guard Bradley Doyley added 12 and 10 points, respectively, while freshman guard Lovell Smith and junior forward Chris Thompson provided 14 and 13 points, respectively, coming off the bench.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Senior forward Justin Mitchell's 20.2 points per game leads Buffalo State and ranks fourth in the conference… Mitchell also leads the Bengals and ranks fourth in the SUNYAC in rebounding (9.4 rpg)… Sophomore guard Bradley Doyley paces the Buffalo State offense with 2.8 assists per game, while Mitchell is third in the conference in blocks per game (2.4).

TEAM STATISTICS: Like New Paltz, Buffalo State defends the perimeter well… The Bengals are third in the SUNYAC in three-point field-goal defense (.292).

LAST MEETING: New Paltz split the season series in 2012-13 with Buffalo State… The Hawks fell, 97-93, to Buffalo State on Dec. 1, 2012, at the Buffalo State Sports Arena before posting an 86-81 triumph over the Bengals on Feb. 8, 2013, at the Hawk Center.
