TROY, N.Y. – After a 95-minute lightning delay, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team (1-2-2) suffered a 2-0 shutout loss at the hands of No. 21 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (3-1-0) in a non-conference matchup Wednesday evening at East Campus Stadium.
RPI's Sara Rothschild scored what proved to be the game winner just 33 seconds into Wednesday's matchup. Cori Winslow added the Engineers' second goal in the 34th minute off an assist from Coley Mowder to put the Hawks in a deeper hole in the first half.

Krysten Kane (Macedon, N.Y./Wayne Central) shouldered the loss on Wednesday, allowing two goals and saving seven shots, which puts her on top of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) with 35 saves on the year. Alex Scholz picked up the shutout victory for RPI, stopping three shots in the process.
The Hawks were outshot, 17-8, by the Engineers, including a 9-3 shots on goal difference. New Paltz held a 6-5 corner kick advantage in the loss.
The Hawks return to action on Friday, Sept. 13, when they travel to Bard College for a non-conference matchup. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. under the lights.
