NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – A goal in the 75th minute by SUNY Oswego's Nikki Liadka broke a scoreless tie, as the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team (2-5-2, 0-1-0 SUNYAC) fell, 1-0, to the Lakers (6-2-0, 1-0-0 SUNYAC) on Friday afternoon in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener for both teams.
New Paltz was unable to generate much offense in the 1-0 loss, as Oswego held a commanding 21-7 edge in shots. Furthermore, the Lakers outgained the Hawks, 5-1, in corner kicks.
Alyssa Glasshagel earned the shutout in net for Oswego, making four saves, while sophomore goalkeeper
Krysten Kane (Macedon, N.Y./Wayne Central) turned aside 10 shots in the loss.
New Paltz looks to get back on track tomorrow afternoon, as it hosts SUNY Cortland in a 1 p.m. league contest.
