NEW PALTZ, N.Y. â€“ The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team looks to put one in the win column on Friday, Jan. 17, as the Hawks take on SUNY Cortland in Cortland, N.Y.

RECORDS: New Paltz heads into Friday's meet with an 0-5 record, while Cortland is 5-6.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS (0-5): New Paltz lost twice in a two-day tri-meet against SUNY Geneseo and the Rochester Institute of Technology from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 10-11, falling to the host Knights, 233-117, and RIT, 226-115... Junior Jack Spader led the Hawks with a first-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle (17:44.75), and he posted the fourth-fastest time in the 500 freestyle (5:09.76)... New Paltz edged RIT in the 800 freestyle relay in the first event of the meet, as the foursome of sophomore Rod Taskindoust, senior Matt Distler, freshman Luke Zenir and sophomore Ethan Cooke combined for a second-place time of 7:31.03.

SCOUTING THE RED DRAGONS (5-6): Cortland suffered a 177-111 home loss to Hartwick College on Sunday... Sophomore Jack Jakubek and senior Kyle McManus each won two individual events for the Red Dragons... Jakubek won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.27) and 200 breaststroke (2:22.21), while McManus captured both 1-meter (192.30 points) and 3-meter (188.10 points) diving... Cortland opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:40.37)... That team was comprised of freshman Dylan Burns, Jakubek, sophomore Mathew Hasbrouck and senior Mark Hanifin... Hasbrouck won the 200 individual medley (2:05.73) and placed second in the 100 butterfly (54.04)... Sophomore Reeve Callen won the 50 freestyle (22.03), and Hanifin finished second in both the 200 freestyle (1:48.00) and 100 freestyle (49.18).

LAST MEETING: Cortland handed New Paltz a 162-91 loss when the two teams last met on Jan. 18, 2013.
