NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – For the second time in a week, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team will face SUNY Oswego. The Hawks will host the Lakers at the Hawk Center on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest.

RECORDS: The Hawks enter Tuesday's game with a 2-12, 0-7 SUNYAC record… Oswego has a 6-9, 2-6 record.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (2-12, 0-7): The Hawks are coming off two tough losses against SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Potsdam last Friday and Saturday… Against Potsdam, freshman guard/forward Kit Small scored a career-high 24 points, 18 of those coming in the first half… The 24 points eclipsed her previous career high of 22 points set against SUNY Fredonia on December 6, 2013…  She tallied 16 points against Plattsburgh on Friday evening on 8-for-9 shooting from the free-throw line… Against Potsdam, Small also tied a career-high with 10 rebounds, matching the 10 she grabbed against Western Connecticut State University on December 3, 2013… In the Potsdam game, freshman forward Courtney Irby earned a new career high with six steals, and senior forward Jeanette Scott tallied a season-best 13 points on an effective 5-for-10 shooting from the field... Against Plattsburgh, the Hawks shot a season-best 79 percent (15-for-19) from the free-throw line… In their Jan. 14 game against Oswego, the Hawks had their fewest turnovers of the season (13).
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: With her back-to-back double figures scoring games, Small now leads the Hawks in scoring (10.8 ppg)… Sophomore guard Goldie Harrison follows (8.9 ppg) and then junior guard Shannan Walker (7.1 ppg)… Small ranks 19th in the SUNYAC in scoring… Irby averages 8.1 rebounds per game, fifth best in the SUNYAC… Small's 5.5 rebound average is 19th best in the conference… Harrison's 2.4 steals per game ranks first in the SUNYAC… Senior forward Jeanette Scott averages 1.0 blocks per game, sixth best in the conference… Walker's 1.3 three-pointers made per game is 16th best in the SUNYAC… Walker averages 32.5 minutes per game, seventh best in the SUNYAC.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: The Hawks rank second in the SUNYAC in offensive rebounds per game (15.1 rpg)… Opponents shoot just 64 percent from the free-throw line, which is the fourth best mark in the conference… The Hawks rank fifth in steals per game (10.4 spg).
 
SCOUTING THE LAKERS (6-9, 2-6 SUNYAC): Oswego lost both of its road SUNYAC games last Friday and Saturday, falling to The College at Brockport, 70-67, in overtime and SUNY Geneseo, 69-50… Against Brockport, the Lakers held a 34-22 halftime lead, but the Golden Eagles erased that deficit within the first 10 minutes of the second half.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Senior guard Jenn Robbins leads the Lakers in scoring (17.6 ppg),  third best in the SUNYAC…She is followed by sophomore guard Heather Hebert (11.8 ppg)… Hebert leads in rebounding (8.8 rpg)… Robbins averages 3.3 assist per game… She also leads in steals (1.7 spg)… Her 32.7 minutes per game average ranks fifth best in the conference.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: The Lakers average 67.5 ppg, fifth best in the SUNYAC… Oswego shoots 41 percent from the floor, third best in the conference, and ranks first in three-point distance (35 percent)… The Lakers top the league in three-pointers made per game (6.9).
  
LAST MEETINGS: The Lakers took the first game of the series, 75-51, on Jan. 14, 2014.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Hawks remain home for SUNYAC play this Friday and Saturday against Geneseo at 6 p.m. on Friday and Brockport at 2 p.m. on Saturday… Oswego travels to Geneseo for a 6 p.m. game next Tuesday, Jan. 28, giving the Lakers a rare weekend off from competition.
 
COACHES: New Paltz is led by eighth-year head coach Jamie Seward... Oswego is led by Tracy Bruno who is in her seventh season.
