NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team will look to upset two of the top teams in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) this weekend, when the Hawks host SUNYAC games against SUNY Geneseo on Friday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. and The College at Brockport on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 4 p.m.

WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT: Saturday's contest against Brockport will be the program's first-ever Wounded Warrior Project game, and all gate receipts from Saturday's contests will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project... For Saturday's game, there will be a general admission charge of $5, but all current New Paltz students will be admitted free of charge... Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to donate toward the cause as well... New Paltz's men's basketball team will celebrate the event by wearing camouflage tops during the pregame shootaround... RECORDS: The Hawks enter Friday night's game with a 6-9, 3-5 SUNYAC record... Geneseo has an 11-2, 5-1 SUNYAC mark... Brockport owns a 12-1, 6-0 SUNYAC record heading into its Friday night game against SUNY Oneonta.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (6-9, 3-5 SUNYAC): The Hawks look to bounce back after their Tuesday night loss against SUNY Oswego (64-52)... New Paltz has not won a game against Geneseo since Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, when it defeated the Knights 78-69... New Paltz currently sits in eighth place in the SUNYAC and is eager to improve their overall and conference records (6-9, 3-5)... Heading into this weekend, the Hawks have 10 SUNYAC games left before the SUNYAC Men's Basketball Tournament... The top six teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament… Junior guard/forward Taylor Sowah looks to match his impressive numbers from Tuesday night's game against Oswego where he scored 16 points and added six rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Sowah leads the team and is 11th in the SUNYAC in scoring with 15.3 points per game... Senior guard Andrew Joseph leads the team in both rebounding (6.3 rpg) and assists (4.0 apg)... Joseph owns the SUNYAC's fourth-best per-game average in assists and the 10th-best per-game average in rebounds.
 
TEAM STATISTICS:  The Hawks are holding their opponents to 75.1 points per game, which is the fifth-best average in the SUNYAC... The Hawks rank fourth in the SUNYAC in free-throw percentage, shooting 69 percent from the line.
 
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (11-2, 5-1 SUNYAC): The Knights are currently on a five-game winning streak in SUNYAC play... Geneseo has only been defeated twice this season, losing at home to St. John Fisher College (87-79) and on the road at SUNY Plattsburgh (97-85)... The Knights currently sit at second place in the conference standings.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS:  The Knights are led in scoring by senior forward Gordon Lyons (19.1 ppg), the fifth-leading scorer in the SUNYAC, who has scored in double figures in all 13 contests... Lyons also leads the SUNYAC in rebounding with 11.0 rebounds per game... Senior guard Connor Fedge follows at 14.6 points per game... Also averaging double-figure scoring is senior forward Matt Curry at 11.2 points per game... Senior guard Thomas Decker leads the Knights in assists (3.6 apg), which is seventh-best in the SUNYAC.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: Geneseo leads the SUNYAC in scoring (80.8 ppg), and is tied for fourth in scoring defense (68.9 ppg)...The Knights lead the SUNYAC in field-goal and free-throw percentages , shooting 51 percent from the floor and 77 percent from the line.
  
LAST MEETINGS: New Paltz fell short in both regular-season games last season against the Knights, losing 84-63 on Dec. 8, 2012, at home and 76-61 on Jan. 25, 2013, on the road... Geneseo shot 74 percent from the floor when the two teams met in the quarterfinal round of the 2013 SUNYAC Men's Basketball Tournament on Feb. 19, 2013, and Geneseo ended up prevailing, 98-80… Game recaps of those contests are below.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (12-1, 6-0 SUNYAC): Heading into this weekend, the Golden Eagles have remained undefeated in SUNYAC play and are ranked No. 23 in the D3hoops.com Men's Top-25 Poll... The Golden Eagles have not lost a game since Nov. 26, 2013, when they fell against Purchase College, 98-90, in double overtime... Brockport is currently on an 11-game winning streak... In 10 out of the last 11 Golden Eagle victories, they have won by double digits.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: The Golden Eagles are led by the SUNYAC's second-best scorer, senior guard John Ivy (21.4 ppg)... Ivy has scored double digits in all 13 contests for the Eagles, totaling 278 points so far this season... Senior guard Brandon Caruthers follows at 14.2 points per game... Brockport's senior center Patrick Coyle leads the team in blocks (2.9 bpg) and rebounds (7.6 rpg)...Coyle is the conference leader in blocks per game and is seventh-best in the rebounding category.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: Brockport is the third-best in the SUNYAC in scoring (80.0 ppg) and is the best defensive team, allowing only 64.4 points per game... The Golden Eagles also lead the conference in rebounds (41.5 rpg)... Brockport outscores its opponents by 16.6 points a game.
 
LAST MEETINGS: The Hawks split their two games against Brockport last season, winning 88-70 on Dec. 7, 2012, at home and losing at Brockport, 93-70 on Jan. 26, 2013... Game recaps of those contests are below.
