NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – After a week off from competition and with the conference playoff picture starting to take shape, the State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team looks to grab a couple more victories as it will take on SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1, at 4 p.m., respectively, in a pair of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) games.
RECORDS: New Paltz heads to Potsdam with a 6-11, 3-7 SUNYAC record… Potsdam owns a 2-14, 0-9 mark… Plattsburgh has a 13-3, 7-2 record.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (6-11, 3-7 SUNYAC): New Paltz fell, 78-69, to No. 23 The College at Brockport on Jan. 25 in a SUNYAC game… The Hawks' offense was led by junior guard/forward
Taylor Sowah's 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, while sophomore guard
Zach Cone-Douglas and sophomore guard
Keegan Donovan joined him in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively... Cone-Douglas scored his career-high in 19 minutes coming off the bench... Senior guard
Andrew Joseph also played an important role in the offense, adding eight points with five assists.
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Sowah leads the Hawks and is 11th in the SUNYAC in scoring with 15.7 points per game, while also leading the team in rebounds (6.5 rpg)…

TEAM STATISTICS: The Hawks are holding their opponents to 76.3 points per game… The Hawks rank fourth in the SUNYAC in free-throw percentage (69.6 percent), and they are fifth in the conference in three-point field-goal percentage (32.4 percent).
SCOUTING THE BEARS (2-14, 0-9 SUNYAC): SUNY Potsdam was topped by Buffalo State in a 68-56 SUNYAC loss on Saturday, Jan. 25… Senior forward Rob Duquette had 20 points along with nine rebounds, just missing his seventh double-double of the season… Junior guard/forward Zac Adams had 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a block… Senior forward Brandon Williams had a double-double, as he tied a season-best with 11 points and three steals while adding season-bests of 12 rebounds and five assists.
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Duquette leads the Bears in scoring with 13.9 points per game; he is among the top 20 scorers in the SUNYAC… Duquette also leads in rebounds with 9.0 per game, which is fourth in the SUNYAC... Sophomore guard Joe Estramonte leads the Bears in assists with 2.3 per game.
TEAM STATISTICS: The Bears hold their opponents to 76.3 points per game… Potsdam is ranked seventh in the SUNYAC in free-throw percentage (66 percent)

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS (13-3, 7-2 SUNYAC): Plattsburgh completed an undefeated 3-0 week as it took down SUNY Fredonia, 77-42, in a SUNYAC game on Saturday, Jan. 25… Junior forward Alan Siergiej led all scorers on the court with a career-high 14 points… Senior guard John Perez added 13 points along with a game-high eight rebounds for the Cardinals.
STATISTICIAL LEADERS: Junior guard Shamoy McIntosh is 14th in the SUNYAC and leads the Cardinals in scoring with 14.3 points per game… Perez is fifth in the SUNYAC and leads the Cardinals in rebounds (8.8 rpg)… Senior guard Chris Manning leads both the Cardinals and the SUNYAC in assists with 5.3 per game.
