Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – While it is not quite as exhilarating as winning a conference title, the State University of New York at New Paltz exacted some measure of revenge in a rematch of last year's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament title match against Buffalo State on Friday during SUNYAC Pool Play action at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium on the campus of The College at Brockport, as the Hawks ended up winning, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-22), over the Bengals.
With the two teams relying on different go-to people at key positions—namely, libero and setter—New Paltz won based on stellar back-row play, as four different Hawks registered double-digit dig figures en route to digging 66 balls as a team.
New Paltz rises to 18-4 overall and 4-0 in the SUNYAC. The Hawks close out the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play tomorrow afternoon, taking on host Brockport at 10 a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. encounter with SUNY Plattsburgh. Buffalo State drops to 14-8 overall and 1-3 in the SUNYAC and meets up with Plattsburgh at 10 a.m. and Brockport at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.
