Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – After being idle from competition for a week and a half, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team fell to a strong Williams College team, 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-19), on Tuesday night in a non-conference match at Chandler Gym.
In a rematch of last year's five-set thriller that saw the Hawks win in five sets, Williams overpowered New Paltz with a strong attack and a stalwart front row. The Ephs held a .276-to-.156 edge in hitting and an 8-5 margin in total team blocks. Furthermore, New Paltz was unable to get much going at the service line, as the Ephs had just one reception error all match.
New Paltz sees its modest five-match winning streak end at five and drops to 17-4 overall. The Hawks continue on with State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play from Friday-Saturday, Oct. 10-11, at The College at Brockport, squaring off with Buffalo State at 5 p.m. on Friday, host Brockport at 10 a.m. on Saturday and SUNY Plattsburgh at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Williams rises to 15-1 overall and visits Bates College on Friday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m. for a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) match.

Maddie Zwickl (Chester, N.Y./Warwick Valley) doled out 29 assists. Senior middle hitter
Alli Coleman (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton Central) reinforced the front row defensively with three total blocks.
Williams' biggest strength came in its balance, as senior outside hitter Claire Miller and sophomore outside hitter Tori Jasuta tied for the match-high in kills with nine, while senior outside hitter/middle blocker Raea Rasmussen floored eight terminations. Junior setter Ryan Farley dished out 24 assists, while Jasuta and Miller collected 14 and 10 digs, respectively. Junior middle blocker Katherine Lane and junior outside hitter/middle blocker Catherine Egan each finished the evening with four block assists.
