Box Score 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team closed out its regular season with a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Farmingdale State College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-22), before topping host Skidmore College, 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-18), on the second and final day of the Skidmore Invitational.

Becca Borquist (Rhinebeck, N.Y./Rhinebeck) was named the Tournament MVP, while sophomore middle hitter
Morgan Roessler (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) joined her on the All-Tournament Team. The Hawks have now won 12 of their last 13 matches and have won eight straight.
New Paltz rises to 29-5 overall and will host the 2014 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament from Friday-Sunday, Nov. 7-9, as the top seed and regular-season champion. The Hawks earned a bye through the quarterfinal round and will face either fourth-seeded The College at Brockport or fifth-seeded SUNY Oswego in the semifinal round on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. Farmingdale State drops to 13-20 with the loss and competes in the first round of the Skyline Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Skidmore ends its season at 8-25.

New Paltz 3, Skidmore 0Borquist's 19-kill effort on a .515 hitting percentage helped ignite the Hawks in their regular-season finale, as New Paltz posted a .300-to-.107 advantage in hitting percentage.
The turning point for the Hawks in the match came late in the first set, as they overcame a four-point deficit to pull out a 26-24 win in the frame. Skidmore fired off three straight kills to stake itself to a 23-19 advantage, forcing New Paltz to take its second and final timeout. A kill by sophomore outside hitter
Anna Paulik (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) and an attacking error by the Thoroughbreds prompted a Skidmore timeout, and the Hawks received a kill from Borquist to pull within one at 23-22. A New Paltz service error brought up set point, but Borquist countered with back-to-back kills to knot the score at 24-all. A Skidmore attacking error followed by a block assist by Borquist and sophomore middle hitter
Brittany Tyack (Commack, N.Y./Commack) gave New Paltz the set win.
From that point forward, the lead changed hands just three times, and New Paltz cruised to the 3-0 victory.
Beyond Borquist, Roessler floored 10 kills to help lead the offense, while Zwickl handed out 37 assists. Senior libero
Katy Herbst (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and Paulik posted 15 and 12 digs, respectively, while Tyack totaled six blocks on the match.
For Skidmore, sophomore outside hitter Brittany Osborn led the way with 11 kills, while freshman setter Kalle Fox distributed 29 assists. Sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist Marcela Familiar-Bolanos and senior outside hitter Aria Goodman defended 14 and 13 digs, respectively.
