NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team begins State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play this weekend at Plattsburgh and Potsdam on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 5-6.
 
RECORDS: The Hawks are 3-3 after falling to Mount Saint Mary 69-66 on Nov. 25… Plattsburgh is 1-3, dropping a 90-64 decision to St. Lawrence on Tuesday… Potsdam is also 1-3, losing 63-42 to Clarkson on Tuesday night.
 

19874SCOUTING THE HAWKS (3-3): Despite getting an open look at what would have been the game-tying three pointer, the Hawks fell to the Knights 69-66 in their home opener last Tuesday night… Sophomore guard/forward Kit Small registered a double-double with a game-high 18 points and contest-best 14 rebounds… Junior forward Colleen Ames tallied 12 points off the bench… Freshman guard/forward Laura Stuart tallied six points and five rebounds off the pine… Last year, New Paltz finished 0-2 against Plattsburgh while splitting with the Bears… In 2013-14, Small averaged 19.5 ppg/6.5 rpg versus the Cardinals and 18.0 ppg/9.5 rpg against the Bears.

2942SCOUTING THE CARDINALS (1-3): Against St. Lawrence on Tuesday, junior forward Devona Paul tied for the game high with 21 points… Paul also pulled down six rebounds and swatted away four shots…  Senior guard Brittany Marshall chipped in nine points and dished out a game-best seven assists… Junior guard/forward Stephanie Linder notched eight points off the bench… The Cardinals' lone win this year occurred in the season-opener against Juniata in the NYU Women's Holiday Classic, defeating the Eagles 76-66… Marshall and junior guard Allie Taylor scored 16 points apiece while Paul notched 12 points… Last season, the Cardinals were the SUNYAC champions, finishing 23-6 with a 15-3 SUNYAC record while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

2941SCOUTING THE BEARS (1-3): Against Clarkson on Tuesday night, Bailey Weigel notched a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds… Carli Reynolds scored a team-best 15 points… Veronica Sapp scored seven points… The Bears' lone victory this season came against SUNY Canton on Nov. 23… Reynolds poured in a game-high 24 points with Weigel notching 14 points against the Kangaroos… Potsdam finished 2013-14 with a 6-19, 4-14 record… The Bears went 2-8 at home last season.
