NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team plays its final two games of the 2013-14 season on the road, facing  The College at Brockport at 6 p.m. on Friday and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday at 2 p.m. in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
 
RECORDS: New Paltz heads into Friday's game with a 5-18, 3-12 SUNYAC record… Brockport is 9-14, 5-11 and Geneseo owns a 17-6, 11-5 mark.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (5-18, 3-12 SUNYAC): New Paltz unfortunately could not hold onto its 24-21 halftime lead and a 35-28 lead with ten minutes to play, falling to SUNY Oneonta, 53-46, on Feb. 14 in SUNYAC action… The Hawks came out strong and continued to hold a lead 12:36 into the second half, but Oneonta would not quit and went on a late spurt to earn the victory… The Red Dragons currently sit in fourth place in SUNYAC standings… Freshman forward Kit Small finished with a team-high 14 points, with 10 of those points coming in the first half… Junior guard Shannan Walker contributed 12 points and freshman forward Courtney Irby grabbed 14 rebounds, her second highest of the season.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Small leads the Hawks and ranks 14th in the SUNYAC in scoring (11.5 ppg)… Irby leads the team in rebounding (8.7 rpg), which ranks fourth in the conference… Walker ranks among the top-10 in 3-point field goals made with 1.5 per game… Sophomore guard Goldie Harrison ranks second in the SUNYAC in steals (2.2 spg)… Senior forward Jeanette Scott leads the team in blocked shots (0.9), eighth best in the SUNYAC.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: New Paltz holds its opponents to 65.7 points per game… The Hawks are fourth in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (13.8)...  Opponents only shoot 65.7 percent from the free-throw line, which is fifth best in the conference… The Hawks rank sixth in the conference in blocks (2.48 bpg)… New Paltz ranks fourth in the conference in steals, averaging 10 per game.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (9-14, 5-11 SUNYAC): Brockport is coming off a thrilling 51-50 victory over SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday night … Senior guard Alexandra Marshall paced the offense with 12 points and chipped in four rebounds… Freshman forward Anna Feller had 10 points and six rebounds… tallied 11 points
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Welch leads the team in multiple statistical categories including: scoring (11.3) 13th in the SUNYAC, free throw percentage (79.4) fourth in the SUNYAC, 3-point field goals (1.5) eighth in the conference, and assists per game (3.8) which lands her at fourth in the conference… Freshman guard Hannah Rehbaum ranks third in the SUNYAC in steals averaging 2.1 per game.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: Brockport averages 57 points per game and holds its opponents to 64.2 points per game which is sixth best in the SUNYAC…The Golden Eagles average 4.93 3-point field goals per game, sixth best in the SUNYAC… Impressively, Brockport ranks first in the conference in offensive rebounding (14.3 per game).
 
LAST MEETING: New Paltz lost to Brockport, 59-44, on January 25.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (17-6, 11-5 SUNYAC): Geneseo is coming off an impressive 69-62 victory over SUNY Cortland on Tuesday night… That victory came on the heels of a 75-45 victory over Buffalo State on Feb… Against Cortland, junior forward Shannon McGinnis scored a game-high 16 points while sophomore forward Allison McKenna finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds...Freshman forward Bridgit Ryan scored 9 points and sophomore guard Dana Cohan chipped in with 13 points.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: McGinnis leads the team in scoring (15.3 ppg) which places her at sixth in the SUNYAC… She leads the SUNYAC in rebounding (9.4 per game)… McKenna also leads the SUNYAC in free throw shooting (86.1 percent) and leads te conference in blocked shots (2.1 bpg)… Cohan registers 4.3 assists per game, which ranks third in the SUNYAC.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: The Knights score 67.3 points per game while holding their opponents to only 56.2 points per game, which is second in the conference… Geneseo leads the SUNYAC in scoring margin (+11.3) …Geneseo shoots 43.5 percent from the floor which is second best in the conference while holding its opponents to shooting 33.2 percent which ranks them first in the SUNYAC… The Knights are the conference front-runners in 3-point field goal percentage (34.3) and defensive rebounds (32.5).
 
LAST MEETING: New Paltz lost to Geneseo 62-41 on Jan. 24.
