Box Score WHEATON, Mass. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team fell at Wheaton (Mass.) College, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks drop to 6-3 and will begin State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play at SUNY Cortland on Friday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. The Lyons improve to 5-3 and play at Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m.
The match was scoreless until the second half of play when Wheaton scored twice in a span of less than two minutes. The first Lyon goal occurred at 54:52 and the next happened at 56:07 to put the Hawks in a 2-0 hole.
The Hawks registered four first-half shots but could not find the back of the net, while the second half saw New Paltz fire off six more attempts, including a pair by senior midfielder
Sarah Painter (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point), but neither would connect.
For the day, the Lyons outshot New Paltz, 25-10. Painter led the Hawk attack with three shots. Sophomore midfielder

Katelyn Cordero (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) was charged with the defeat while tallying five saves on the day. Her counterpart, Lauren Thacker, was forced to make three saves for Wheaton.
