NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – After going 3-0 last week in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, the State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team looks to continue that momentum at Oneonta on Thursday night.
 
RECORDS: The Hawks are sitting at 6-6 overall, 4-1 SUNYAC for second place… The Red Dragons are 5-7, 2-3 SUNYAC for seventh place.
 

19874SCOUTING THE HAWKS (6-6, 4-1): New Paltz has won four straight games, including a 3-0 SUNYAC week against Cortland, Brockport and Geneseo… This marks the longest winning streak under fourth-year head coach Mike Rejniak and is the longest streak for the program since the 2010-11 campaign… Against Cortland on Jan. 6, senior guard/forward R.J. Rosa netted a career-high 31 points behind 7-of-9 shooting from behind the arc… Senior guard/forward Taylor Sowah grabbed a career-high 15 boards and notched his fifth double-double of the year adding 13 points… Versus Brockport on Friday, sophomore forward Andrew Seniuk drained a three-pointer with five seconds remaining in regulation to seal the win… On Saturday against Geneseo, sophomore guard Eric Regenbogen netted a team-high 21 points off the bench behind 5-of-9 shooting from long distance… Against Oneonta last year, Sowah averaged 14.0 ppg.

2927SCOUTING THE RED DRAGONS (5-7, 2-3): Oneonta is looking to break a four-game losing streak… The Red Dragons dropped three SUNYAC contests last week against Oswego, Geneseo and Brockport… In a 96-92 double overtime defeat at Oswego, senior guard Zach Mager led the team with 23 points… Senior forward Kareem Williams netted 16 points while junior forward Mikey McElroy and junior guard Jack Dignan both scored 14 points each… Senior point guard Frankie Kelly dished out a game-high six assists… Zach Mager led the Red Dragons with 14 points against Geneseo… Dignan scored 13 points with sophomore forward Lawrence Coleman contributing 11 points… McElroy netted 13 points versus Brockport… Last season, Oneonta finished 12-14, 9-9 SUNYAC, falling to Geneseo in the conference quarterfinals… In 2013-14, Oneonta went 2-0 against New Paltz with Zach Mager averaging 25.0 ppg and McElroy netting 23.0 ppg.
