NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team is prepared for its first contest since Dec. 6 as the Hawks travel to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent Cortland on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 4 p.m.
 
RECORDS: The Hawks are 4-4, 1-1 SUNYAC… The Red Dragons stand at 7-1, 2-0 SUNYAC.
 

19874SCOUTING THE HAWKS (4-4, 1-1): New Paltz opened SUNYAC play at Plattsburgh and Potsdam on Dec. 5-6, falling to the Cardinals 71-65 before defeating the Bears 71-51… Against defending conference champion Plattsburgh, sophomore guard/forward Kit Small scored a team-high 14 points… Senior guard Shannan Walker notched 12 points with four three-pointers… Junior guard Goldie Harrison and junior guard/forward Colleen Ames scored 10 point apiece… Freshman forward Norvonee Hall pulled down 15 rebounds… Versus Potsdam, freshman guard Jasmine Bryant scored a career-high 16 points in 19 minutes… Last season, the Hawks split with Cortland as Small averaged 17.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg.

Four players finished in double figures against the Wildcats as junior forward Brittney Dumas notched a double-double (13 points, 11 boards) while sophomore guard Cassidy Chapko and freshman guard Kerry McHugh both scored 11 points… The Red Dragons are first in the SUNYAC with seven overall wins and are tied with Plattsburgh with a 2-0 conference mark… Dumas leads the SUNYAC with 18.3 ppg and ranks second with 12.5 rpg… Chapko leads the league in three-point percentage (.531; 17-of-32).
