NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team is prepared to host State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponents Brockport and Geneseo this weekend from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 9-10 in the Hawk Center.
 
RECORDS: The Hawks enter the weekend with a 4-6, 2-1 SUNYAC mark, earning a 78-73 win at previously-undefeated Cortland on Tuesday afternoon… Brockport is 4-4 overall with a 1-0 SUNYAC record… Geneseo is 5-3 with a 1-0 mark in the SUNYAC.
 

19874SCOUTING THE HAWKS (4-6, 2-1): New Paltz knocked off the Red Dragons on Tuesday for its first win at Cortland since Jan. 12, 2010… Senior guard/forward R.J. Rosa poured in a game-best and career-high 31 points behind 10-of-16 shooting and seven three-pointers… Senior forward Taylor Sowah recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds… Junior guard/forward Kevin Roach chipped in 11 points and seven boards… Sophomore forward Andrew Seniuk contributed nine points and five rebounds… In the games against Geneseo and Brockport last year, Sowah averaged 13.3 ppg.

19869SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (4-4, 1-0): Brockport defeated Buffalo State in its SUNYAC opener on Tuesday, 77-70… Five players finished in double figures as sophomore forward Levi Pace led Brockport with 17 points and 10 boards for a double-double… Sophomore guard Aaron White and sophomore guard/forward Clifton Lyerly both scored 13 points… Freshman guard Hamed Shamseldin notched 11 points off the bench… Junior guard/forward Patrick Modzelewski scored 10 points… This year, the Golden Eagles have defeated St. Lawrence, Hobart and Nazareth… In 2013-14, Brockport finished 24-4 and won the SUNYAC title over Plattsburgh before falling to Morrisville State in the Division III Tournament… Brockport enjoyed a 15-game winning streak last year from Dec. 4 to Feb. 1… Last year, Lyerly averaged 8.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg against New Paltz.

LAST MEETING: New Paltz fell at No. 14 Brockport 86-66 when these two teams last met on Feb. 21, 2014.
 

2923SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (5-3, 1-0): Geneseo earned a 68-55 win at Fredonia on Tuesday in its SUNYAC opener… Senior forward Gordon Lyons poured in a game-high 26 points and contest-best 12 boards for a double-double… Senior guard Andy Drescher knocked in 19 points… Freshman guard Kevin Crockett scored nine points… Senior forward Devon Anderson dished out a team-high four assists… This season, the Knights have defeated Rose-Hulman, Nazareth, Saint John Fisher and Medaille… In 2013-14, Geneseo finished 21-7, falling to Plattsburgh in the SUNYAC Semifinals … Last year, Lyons averaged 16.0 ppg and 14.0 rpg against New Paltz… Lyons currently leads the SUNYAC in scoring and rebounding this season with 24.4 ppg and 13.5 rpg... Lyons ranks first in all of Division III in rebounds and eighth in scoring.
