NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team is prepared to host State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponents Brockport and Geneseo this weekend from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 9-10 in the Hawk Center.
RECORDS: The Hawks are 4-5, 1-2 in the SUNYAC… Brockport is 2-6, 0-1 SUNYAC… Geneseo enters the weekend at 5-3 overall with a 1-0 SUNYAC mark.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (4-5, 1-2): New Paltz suffered a 58-49 setback at No. 25 Cortland on Tuesday, Jan. 6, its first game since Dec. 6… Junior guard
Goldie Harrison led the team with eight points while chipping in six boards and three assists… Junior guard
Dariah Duncan scored seven points off the bench… Freshman guard/forward

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (2-6, 0-1): Brockport fell in its SUNYAC opener at Buffalo State on Tuesday, 78-61… Junior guard Marissa Pike recorded a double-double with team-highs in points (18) and rebounds (11)… Sophomore guard Faith Welch chipped in 13 points and six assists… Sophomore guard Hannah Rehbaum scored 12 points… Junior guard Erin Cunningham filled the stat line with eight points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals… The Golden Eagles have lost three-straight games, winning last against William Smith on Dec. 4… Last season, Welch averaged 11.0 ppg against New Paltz.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (5-3, 1-0): Geneseo earned its first SUNYAC win of the season at Fredonia on Tuesday, defeating the Blue Devils 61-56… Three players scored in double figures as senior forward Shannon McGinnis and junior guard Dana Cohan tied for the game-high with 15 points each… Senior center Katie Peterson notched 10 points off the bench… McGinnis hauled in a game-best 17 rebounds… Geneseo has also defeated Whitman, Juniata, Nazareth and Misericordia this season… Last year, McGinnis averaged 13.5 ppg and 10.0 rpg against the Hawks… Geneseo fell to Plattsburgh in the 2013-14 SUNYAC title game.
