Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team forced a 1-1 tie with Elmira College after two regulation halves and two overtime periods in its final home game of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
The Hawks (10-6-1) head out on the road to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe Buffalo State on Friday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. Elmira (6-4-4) remains on the road and will pay a visit to Ithaca College on Oct. 24 at 12 p.m.
Despite several opportunities on both sides to break open the scoring, the teams finished with a scoreless first half.
Elmira was off to a fast start early in the second half as junior forward Michael Bryant slipped past the New Paltz defense to find the back of the net and push the Soaring Eagles, 1-0, over the Hawks.
As the clock ran down in regulation, New Paltz searched for its opportunity to land on the board and found its break in the 89

Jason Gonzalez (Woodside, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) sent a penalty kick into the goal to force the game into overtime.
Both teams worked hard to snatch the win but were unsuccessful in their efforts as the final period of overtime concluded in a 1-1 draw.
The Hawks outshot Elmira, 15-8, and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks. Bryant notched six shots with three shots on goal for the Soaring Eagles.
Offensively for New Paltz, junior midfielder
Charlie Versen (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) tallied four shots while junior forward
Tyler Lundgren (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill) registered three shots of his own. Gonzalez and junior midfielder
Tucker Stern (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) recorded two shots apiece to add to the Hawks' efforts.
Sophomore goalkeeper
John Guzzo (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) played the full 110 minutes in goal for New Paltz and recorded one save. Guzzo splits the tie with senior goalkeeper Kevin Huggins who made three stops for the Soaring Eagles.
