Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest to Buffalo State on Friday afternoon.
With the victory, Buffalo State clinches a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament. With the loss New Paltz is eliminated from SUNYAC Tournament contention.
The Hawks drop to 10-7-1, 3-5 SUNYAC and remain on the road as they close out their regular season at SUNY Fredonia tomorrow at 1 p.m. The Bengals improve to 10-5-2, 4-3-1 and move on to host SUNY Oneonta tomorrow at 1 p.m.
The Bengals struck late in the first half as freshman defender Rob Williamson knocked in a header off of a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Sammy Wasson to bring Buffalo State ahead 1-0.
In the 59th minute, the Hawks attempted to clear a long through ball that was sent up the field but with immediate pressure from the Buffalo State offense, the ball was headed off of a New Paltz defender and flew past sophomore goalkeeper
John Guzzo (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) to seal the final 2-0 win for Buffalo State.
The Bengals outshot the Hawks, 16-13, and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Junior midfielder Luke Pavone led the Buffalo State offense with four shots.

Tucker Lundgren (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill) led the New Paltz offense with three shots while junior midfielder
Charlie Versen (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) and sophomore midfiedler
Khalil Scott Ludewig (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) registered two shots each to add to the Hawks' efforts.
Guzzo finished the day with nine stops in goal for New Paltz.
