Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Junior goalkeeper
Mikaela Stiklickas (Nesconset, N.Y./The Stony Brook School) made 12 saves for the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team, as the Hawks tied The College at Brockport, 0-0, following two halves and two overtime periods on Saturday at Bob Boozer Field.
Stiklickas, who posted her second shutout of the season, kept New Paltz in the game, but among all of her stops, none were as important as her save in the first overtime period. In the 97th minute, Brockport's junior midfielder Ashley Makowski unleashed a point-blank shot that Stiklickas sent wide of the net to keep the score deadlocked at 0-0.
New Paltz moves to 2-9-1 overall (1-2-1 SUNYAC) with the tie and next visits SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. Brockport moves to 5-3-3 overall (1-1-2 SUNYAC) with the result and next hosts SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m.
While neither team ended up scoring in the contest, it was not for a lack of effort. Brockport held a slight 19-18 edge in shots, while New Paltz finished with a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Stiklickas' counterpart, sophomore Catherine Eliasson, played strong in goal, too, finishing with nine saves to post her third straight and fourth overall shutout this season.
Senior midfielder
Kristina Gandolfo (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) paced the Hawk attack with four shots, two of which were on goal, while junior forward Chelsea Stahl fired off eight shots for the Golden Eagles.
