Meet ResultsPOUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team captured seven event wins and relied on strong depth, defeating Vassar College, 149-132, on Friday night at Kresge Pool.
Junior
Rob Cahn (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) was a double-event winner for the Hawks, winning both the 200 freestyle (1:52.03) and the 500 freestyle (5:08.15).
New Paltz rises to 1-0 with the win and hosts Ramapo College tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. in its home opener. Vassar drops to 1-1 with the loss and next visits Skidmore College on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m.
A large reason for the Hawks' win came off of a pair of relay victories. The quartet of sophomore

Ethan Cooke (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) and
Will Koenig (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley) began the meet with a winning performance of 1:40.48 in the 200 medley relay, while the foursome of junior
Austin Kowalsky (Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham), Treadwell, Cooke and Koenig finished the meet with the top time of 3:22.77 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Sophomore
Barrett Celecki (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) made his collegiate distance debut in the 1,000 freestyle Friday night and ended up edging the field with a time of 10:40.62. Sophomore
Marc Piliero (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) took top honors in the 100 backstroke (58.14), while Kowalsky muscled his way to a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle (22.55).
Second-place finishes came from Lindgren in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.58) and the 100 freestyle (52.33), junior
Thomas Whittico (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) in the 200 butterfly (2:17.00), sophomore
Colin Duell (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.35), Cooke in the 100 butterfly (56.82) and sophomore
Kevin Sales (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) in the 400 individual medley (4:46.66).
