Sophomore midfielder Khalil Scott Ludewig (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) tied up the score in the 39th minute when he stole the ball from a Western Connecticut defender and ripped a shot from 15 yards out to find the back of the net.

The Hawks were quick to extend their lead early in the second half as junior midfielder Caiden Williams (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) notched his first goal of the season off a rebound shot from junior midfielder Tyler Lundgren (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill), securing the 2-1 victory for New Paltz.

New Paltz outshot the Colonials, 15-5, but the Colonials held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Lundgren and Williams each tallied three shots for the Hawks. Sophomore midfielder Gino Scardino (West Hempstead, N.Y./H. Frank Carey), senior midfielder Jake Falk (Jericho, N.Y./Jericho), and junior midfielder Sam Wasser (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) recorded two shots apiece for the offense.
