Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team made a late first half comeback to claim a 2-1 win over Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hawks improve to 8-4-0 and will next compete against State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. Western Connecticut falls to 4-5-1 and eyes its next win when it faces Plymouth State University on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.

John Guzzo (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) couldn't keep a handle on the ball as it trickled into the goal to push the Colonials ahead, 1-0.
Sophomore midfielder
Khalil Scott Ludewig (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) tied up the score in the 39
th minute when he stole the ball from a Western Connecticut defender and ripped a shot from 15 yards out to find the back of the net.
The Hawks were quick to extend their lead early in the second half as junior midfielder
Caiden Williams (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) notched his first goal of the season off a rebound shot from junior midfielder
Tyler Lundgren (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill), securing the 2-1 victory for New Paltz.
New Paltz outshot the Colonials, 15-5, but the Colonials held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Guzzo made two stops in goal for the day. His Western Connecticut counterpart, sophomore goalkeeper Austin Tierney, notched four saves for the Colonials.
