NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team remains on the road this weekend to take on State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponents SUNY Geneseo and The College at Brockport from Feb. 13-14.
RECORDS: The Hawks enter the weekend at 10-11, 8-6 SUNYAC and are tied for fifth in the standings… The Knights are currently 12-8 overall and 8-5 in the conference, sitting in third place… The Golden Eagles are overall 10-10 and 7-6 in the conference, good for eighth place in the standings and are still alive for postseason contention.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (10-11, 8-6): New Paltz fell at SUNY Oswego 71-47 on Tuesday night at Max Zeil Gymnasium… The Hawks went 14-of-17 from the free-throw line (82.4 percent)… Junior forward/center
Alex Perlman scored five consecutive points in the last minute of the first half and finished with a total of 10 for the game… In the second half, the Hawks also went on a 6-0 run… Senior guard/forward
Taylor Sowah had 15 points and seven rebounds… Sowah is second in the SUNYAC in minutes played (35.2 mpg) and rebounds, averaging 9.3 rpg… Senior guard/forward R.J Rosa leads the SUNYAC in steals (3.5 spg)… Earlier this year, the Hawks defeated Geneseo and Brockport at home from Jan. 9-10… Rosa notched 19 points against the Golden Eagles… Five players finished in double figures against the Knights as sophomore guard

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (12-8, 8-5): Geneseo picked up a conference victory against Buffalo State 78-72 on Tuesday, Feb. 10… Senior forward Gordon Lyons scored 33 points and had 15 rebounds for his 19th double-double of the season… Senior forward Andy Drescher also achieved a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds… Senior forward James McKenna added 13 points… Lyons leads Division III in rebounding (13.3 rpg)… Earlier this season against New Paltz, Drescher tallied a team-high 18 points behind six three-pointers… Lyons notched 14 points and nine boards… This has been the only game this season that Lyons hasn't recorded a double double.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (10-10, 7-6): The College at Brockport men's basketball team defeated SUNY Fredonia 82-79 on Tuesday night at Fredonia… The game was back and forth the entire way… With 1:29 left in the game, the score was knotted up… Two free throws from sophomore guard/forward Clifton Lyerly in the final minute helped to secure the victory for the Golden Eagles… Junior guard/forward Patrick Modzelewski had 23 points and went 4-4 from behind the line…. Lyerly had 18 points… Sophomore forward Levi Pace had five defensive rebounds... Brockport shot 57.7 percent in the first half and made 53.7 percent of their shots for the entire game… Three players finished in double figures in the earlier matchup this year, as Pace tallied a team-high 12 points… Modzelewski scored 10 points.
