NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team is set to conclude the regular season, hosting Buffalo State and SUNY Fredonia from Friday-Saturday, Feb. 20-21.
 
RECORDS: The Hawks are tied for seventh place the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), sitting at 10-13 overall, 8-8 in the conference and 6-3 at home… Buffalo State is 14-8, 10-6 in SUNYAC… Fredonia is 2-20, 1-15 in SUNYAC play.
 

19874SCOUTING THE HAWKS (10-13, 8-8): The Hawks are coming off a tough weekend after back-to-back losses at SUNY Geneseo and The College at Brockport… The Hawks fell 76-65 this past Friday to Geneseo and 61-57 against Brockport on Saturday… The Hawks are now tied for seventh place with SUNY Oneonta and are competing for a spot in playoffs… Senior guard/forward Taylor Sowah recorded his 10th double double of the season against Brockport… Sowah registered a game-highs of 25 points (10-of-18 shooting) and 16 rebounds in 38 minutes… The 16 rebounds was a career-high mark... Senior guard/forward R.J. Rosa added 13 points, four rebounds and two steals while junior forward Kevin Roach finished with 11 points and seven boards… The last time the Hawks and the Bengals met in late January, New Paltz fell short by six points in a high-scoring 95-89 contest… The Hawks were able to top Fredonia 65-51 while away on the Blue Devils home floor.

19871SCOUTING THE BENGALS (14-8, 10-6):  Buffalo State enters the weekend coming off a 105-77 win against Fredonia this past Friday, Feb. 13… Senior guard Chris Cartwright recorded his first double-double of the season, netting 17 points and adding 10 assists…   Sophomore guard Lovell Smith led the team's offense with 20 points and a team-high four steals… Senior guard Roderick Epps added 16 points, five assists and three steals… Senior guard Justin Best recorded a career-high of nine points... The Bengals finished the night shooting 48.8 percent from the floor, 36.0 percent from three-point range and 84.2 percent from the free-throw line… Buffalo State tallied 46 points from the bench and held a 48-40 advantage in total rebounds.

2940SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS (2-20, 1-15): Fredonia moves into the weekend after suffering a 105-77 loss against Buffalo State this past Friday, Feb. 13… Buffalo State grabbed a commanding 60-33 lead at the half that the Blue Devils were unable to catch… Freshman forward Ian Helps led the Blue Devils with 18 points and seven rebounds… The Blue Devils have dropped their SUNYAC record to 1-15 and will not see postseason play… In the previous matchup between the Hawks and the Blue Devils, Helps scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds… Junior guard Alexander Grace added 14 points… Junior guard Kyree Hull registered seven rebounds… The Blue Devils shot 33.3 percent (16-of-48) and finished with 37 rebounds.
