Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team fell 1-0 to host Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks (1-3) look for their second win of the season when they play against The Sage Colleges tomorrow at 1 p.m. Skidmore (2-1) will host SUNY Geneseo next on Friday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m.
The Hawks had to fight off the constant pressure from the Skidmore offense, but the Thoroughbreds managed to break through the New Paltz defense in the 24th minute for the 1-0 lead.
In the second half, New Paltz began to find opportunities to tie up the score, as junior midfielder
Hannah Moran (Albany, N.Y./Albany) struck the ball off a corner kick from sophomore midfielder
Danielle Grossi (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) but was unable to find the back of the net. Moments later, junior defender
Sloane Lipshie (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) nearly scored the equalizer only to have the shot saved.

Alex Miller (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Trabuco Hills) found Grossi's second corner kick in the 70th minute for one more attempt to land on the scoreboard but couldn't put the ball past the goalkeeper.
The Thoroughbreds outshot the Hawks, 24-4, but New Paltz held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman goalkeeper
Mary Flanagan (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) took the loss but tallied nine saves in goal and played the full 90 minutes in her first collegiate start.
