Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team fell to host Vassar College, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
New Paltz (1-7) returns home to host SUNY Cortland in its first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game of the season on Friday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. Vassar (5-2) moves on to host Montclair State University on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.
Vassar was on the attack from the start as the Brewers fired off several shots to open the scoring but couldn't find their target. The Hawks' defense held firm against the constant pressure as freshman goalkeeper
Mary Flanagan (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) made four saves in the box to keep the first half scoreless.

Gabriela Cabello (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) attempted to put the Hawks on the board with an early second half shot, but was unable to send the ball past the Vassar goalkeeper.
The Brewers pulled ahead to 1-0 in the 47
th minute as Audrey Pillsbury sent the ball to the right corner of the goal on a back heel pass. Rebecca Andrews followed with Vassar's second goal over a minute later to seal the 2-0 win.
Vassar outshot New Paltz, 32-9 and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Cabello and junior midfielder
Skye Kaler (Charlton, N.Y./Burnt Hill-Ballston Lake) led the offense with three shots each while senior midfielder

Alexa Appel (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) tallied one shot apiece.
Flanagan recorded seven stops between the posts for the Hawks and played the full 90 minutes.
