Jason Gonzalez (Woodside, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) netted a late minute goal to lift the State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team, 2-1, over Bard College on Wednesday evening.
The Hawks rise to 5-1 and will travel to SUNY Cortland for their first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Friday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. Bard drops to 4-2-1 and will host No. 15 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.

Tyler Lundgren (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill) netted the Hawks' first goal on a pass from Gonzalez.
Bard responded in the second half as Nick Shenberger sent a free kick into the net to tie up the score, but Gonzalez sealed the win for New Paltz in the 87
th minute when he beat the Bard defense to the ball and knocked in the game winning goal.
The Hawks outshot the Raptors, 15-12, and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Lundgren led the offense with six shots and one goal while Gonzalez tallied three shots, one goal and one assist for the night.
Sophomore goalkeeper
John Guzzo (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) earned the win in goal and recorded four saves between the posts.
