Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team found their second consecutive win as the Hawks defeated visiting Lehman College, 3-0, Saturday afternoon.
New Paltz rises to 2-0 and will face off against John Jay College Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. Lehman drops to 1-1 and will play against The College of Old Westbury Sept. 9 at 4 p.m.
In the first half of the game, junior midfielder
Tyler Lundgren(Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill) just missed his mark as a shot towards the goal flew wide left but with an assist from senior midfielder
Jake Falk (Jericho, N.Y./Jericho), Lundgren found the back of the goal in the 28th minute to land the Hawks on the scoreboard with a 1-0 lead.
The Hawks continued to dominate the field as a tic-tac-toe pass from junior midfielder
Charlie Versen (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) and sophomore midfielder
Jon Pugach (Lattingtown, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) to junior midfielder
Tucker Stern (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) brought New Paltz ahead 2-0.
New Paltz secured the victory in the second half as Falk tallied his first goal of the season on a long pass from sophomore goalkeeper
John Guzzo (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place).
The Hawks outshot Lehman 12-2 and had a 9-2 advantage on corner kicks. Lundgren tallied four shots and one goal for the night while Stern had three shots and one goal. Falk notched one goal and one assist.
Guzzo tallied his first assist of the season and made two saves in goal.
