Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team extended its winning streak with a 4-3 win over John Jay College on Monday afternoon at Alumni Field.
The Hawks (3-0) look to remain undefeated when they take on The College at Old Westbury on Saturday at 1 p.m. John Jay falls to 1-3 and looks for its next win against Rutgers University-Newark on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
New Paltz attacked the goal early on in game play with several shots missing their target before freshman defender
Sebastian Gordon-Somers-Archer's (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Kew-Forest School) found junior forward
Tyler Lundgren (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill), who sent the ball to the left corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead.
John Jay managed to tie up the score in the 23rd minute, but the Hawks never let up the pressure as New Paltz fired off shot after shot until Gordon-Somers-Archer scored off a deflection off a Bloodhound defender to lift the Hawks to a 2-1 lead. John Jay was able to tie the score 2-2 before the end of the first half.

After several missed shots on goal by the Hawks, senior forward
Jason Gonzalez (Woodside, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) blasted past the John Jay defense for a straight shot into the net to give New Paltz a 4-2 lead.
Although the Bloodhounds cut the deficit to 4-3 with a goal scored in the 77th minute, the damage had been done and the Hawks soared to their third consecutive win of the season.
The Hawks outshot the Bloohounds 28-7 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks. Versen and Gonzalez each notched five shots for the match, while Gordon-Somers-Archer, Lundgren and junior midfielder
Tucker Stern (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) tallied three shots apiece.
Sophomore goalkeeper
John Guzzo (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) played the entire 90 minutes and had one save in goal.
