Harrison Registers Career-High in Women’s Basketball's 92-61 Victory Over Buffalo State

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Senior guard Goldie Harrison (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) dropped a career-high 20 points in the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team's 92-61 victory over Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon.
 
Harrison shot 8-of-10 from the field while converting 4-of-4 from the line. Junior forward Courtney Irby (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) posted 14 points and 11 boards for her seventh double-double of the season. Junior guard/forward Kit Smalls (Slingersland, N.Y./Academy of the Holy Names) registered 12 points for the Hawks while shooting 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Sophomore guard/forward Jasmine Bryant (Elmont, N.Y./St. Mary's College Prep) grabbed 11 points off the bench, connecting on 4-of-6 field goals and converting 2-of-4 beyond the arc.
 
For Buffalo State, senior forward Jordan Yastremski notched a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Clarisa Matias chipped in 11 points for the Bengals' efforts while senior guard Britt Perry added five assists and four steals.
 
The Bengals finished with a 49-45 edge in rebounds but were held to a 37.9 field goal percentage (25-of-66) while the Hawks shot 34-of-78 from the floor (43.6 percent). New Paltz also converted 18-of-25 from the line (72.0 percent) and notched 32 points off turnovers.
 
The Hawks improve to 10-5, 5-3 and head out on the road to play SUNY Oswego on Friday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. Buffalo State drops to 6-11, 2-8 and returns home to host SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
 
New Paltz hit the ground running from the start, building a solid 20-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Hawks continued to push the pace throughout the second period to land a nine-point edge over the Bengals at the half (34-29).
 
The Hawks registered a total of 58 points in the third and fourth quarters for a 56.76 shooting percentage (21-of-37) that cemented their 92-61 triumph.
