GENESEO, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team lost 2-1 to SUNYAC foe Geneseo on Saturday afternoon at College Stadium.
The Hawks (5-3-4, 1-3-0 SUNYAC) held a slim 3-2 lead in corner kicks over the Knights (6-4-1, 2-2-0 SUNYAC) as both teams managed nine shots on the day.
Geneseo opened the scoring just before the half in the 40
th minute when Knights' freshman forward Bryan Wager tapped in a goal off a feed from senior forward Ethan Gunty.
The lead was extended to 2-0 at the 57
th minute, as the Hawks scored an own goal.
New Paltz got on the board at the 65
th minute as junior midfielder
Ben Zilka (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) scored his second goal of the season. The Hawks were unable to score for the rest of the contest, as the final stood at 2-1.

Luke Dole (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) notched two shots for New Paltz, one of which was on goal. Junior midfielder
Aleco Podias (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) and sophomore midfielder
Manny Flory (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) each posted a shot on goal for the Hawks.

Charlie Versen (Dobbs Ferry, NY/The Masters School), senior defender
Arthur Angst (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) and senior midfielder
Sam Spring (Long Island City, NY/NYC Lab School for Collaborative Studies) all recorded one shot each.
Junior goalkeeper
John Guzzo (Carle Place, NY/Carle Place) made four saves in net for New Paltz.
The Hawks will look to bounce back as they continue SUNYAC play on the road against SUNY Potsdam on Friday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.
