James Saunders (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) tallied 11 points off the bench for the State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team but the Hawks ultimately fell at Brockport on Saturday afternoon, 98-46, in SUNYAC action.
New Paltz (1-6, 0-2 SUNYAC) will prepare to host SUNY Cortland in its home opener on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. This is part of a three-game homestand for the Hawks as they play host to SUNY Oneonta on Dec. 10 and Mount Saint Mary on Dec. 13.
Saunders finished 4-of-7 form the field and grabbed two boards and tallied two steals in 21 minutes of work. Both
Cory Garcia (Highland, N.Y./Highland) and
Emilio Cerda (Bronx, N.Y./W.H.E.E.L.S.) contributed eight points in the defeat.
Five players finished in double figures for the Golden Eagles (6-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) as Marcus Blythers and Jacob Peterson led the way with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Brockport used a 12-0 run to begin the game as New Paltz trailed at intermission, 47-16.
