OSWEGO, N.Y. – Despite notching the first goal of the match, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team fell at SUNY Oswego 4-1 on Friday afternoon in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener.
Junior forward Gabriella Cabello (Hauppauge, NY/Smithtown West) put the Hawks (1-7-2, 0-1-0 SUNYAC) on top in the 30

Jessica Fox (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park Memorial) to give New Paltz a 1-0 advantage.
The Lakers (4-1-2, 1-0-0 SUNYAC) however, only needed 29 seconds to score the equalizer and tied the match at 1-1.
Oswego went on to score three unanswered goals in the second half to close out the scoring. The Lakers outshot New Paltz 19-7 on the day.
Cabello tied for the match high with five shots, three being on target. Senior midfielder
Sloane Lipshie (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) and junior midfielder
Danielle Grossi (Sayville, NY/Sayville) both notched one shot apiece for the New Paltz attack.

Katelyn Cordero (Airmont, NY/Suffern) earned the starting nod and made seven saves in between the pipes.
The Hawks will look to get back on track tomorrow, traveling to SUNY Cortland for a 1 p.m. match.
