POTSDAM, N.Y. – The women's volleyball team at the State University of New York at New Paltz opened up State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-19) victory against host SUNY Potsdam on Friday night.

Morgan Roessler (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) led the attack with 12 kills (.450) while contributing six digs defensively. Senior
Brittany Tyack (Commack, NY/Commack) hit a .471 clip (nine kills) while senior
Anna Paulik (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) (eight kills, eight digs) and freshman
Meghan Keyes (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) (seven kills) also paced the Hawks.
Junior setter
Maddie Zwickl (Chester, NY/Warwick Valley) distributed 43 assists and chipped in eight digs and junior libero
Veronica Matedero (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge) guided the defense with 14 digs. Freshman
Nicole Fellone (Centereach, NY/Centereach) enjoyed three service aces and nine digs.
New Paltz struggled hitting in the first two sets (.138 & .211) but picked up the intensity in the third set to close out the Bears, enjoying a .417 hitting percentage (18-3-36).
The Hawks move to .500 with the victory (7-7 overall, 1-0 SUNYAC) and take on Oswego & Fredonia tomorrow at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
