NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The men's soccer team at the State University of New York at New Paltz experienced its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to SUNY Cortland 1-0 at the South Turf Field.
The Hawks are now 4-1-4, 1-1-0 SUNYAC and will travel to Union on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. for a non-conference match.
The match was scoreless until the 80
th minute when the Red Dragons (6-2-0, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) found the back of the net.
New Paltz had several scoring opportunities, firing seven shots with five being on target. Freshman forward
Luke Dole (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) led the attack with two shots on goal while junior midfielder
Ben Zilka (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur), sophomore midfielder
Manny Flory (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) and senior forward
Tucker Stern (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) all tallied one shot on goal apiece.
