Box Score Potsdam, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss against hosting SUNY Potsdam Friday.
The Bears (9-2-2 overall, 3-0-1 SUNYAC) scored three first-half goals in the 11
th, 30
th, and 39
th minute to take a commanding lead into halftime.
Jaci Morr put away her own rebound to give SUNY Potsdam the initial advantage. Brooke Falsion then piled on two more with back-to-back goals, with Amanda Lingenfelter assisting on Falsion's second.
Morr notched her second of the day and fifth of the season in the 87
th minute to cap off the Bears night and cement the 4-0 outcome.
After getting out-shot 8-1 in the first half, the Hawks (4-8-1 overall, (0-4-1) came out stronger in the following 45 minutes. They nearly matched the Bears' chances, 5-4.
"We were encouraged by the second half performance," said SUNY New Paltz coach
Mike Eckberg. "We were too soft defensively in the first half and Potsdam took advantage."
Megan Tornatore and
Katelyn Cordero split time in net for the Hawks, and finished with three and four saves, respectively.
Delphine Leonard, meanwhile, made two stops for Potsdam.
SUNY New Paltz is back in action Saturday, as it travels to Plattsburgh State for a 1 p.m. game.
