Box Score Hoboken, NJ – The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team fell in a cold and windy game on the road to Stevens Institute of Technology 6-0.

Senior co-captain Conor Donachie got the start on the mound for the second time this season and got off to a hot start by striking out four batters in the first two innings. However, the Ducks were the first to strike in the bottom of the third off the first allowed by Donachie.

The Hawks were looking to answer in the top of the fourth with Anthony Pantano and Chris Moran both drawing a walk, but SUNY New Paltz couldn't get the key hit to bring in a run.

Stevens was looking to add on insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning as they loaded up the bases with two outs. However, Donachie came up clutch and forced a ground ball right back up the middle to himself to get out of the inning.

Head coach Arlan Freeman turned to small ball in the top of the fifth after Zachary Warenius led off with a single up the middle. Both Danny Campbell and Julian Francisco bunted and Warenius advanced to third base. However, junior shortstop Ryan Frost couldn't get the ball past the third baseman and the Hawks remained with zero on the board.

SUNY New Paltz couldn't hold off the Ducks offense any longer and they chipped in two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The momentum had completely shifted towards Stevens and they were able to push the score to 5-0 in the sixth inning.

The Hawks left four total runners on base combined in the final three innings and were unable to get a run across the plate.

Nick DePietro and Zachary Warenius both went 2-for-4 on the day, while Chris Moran and Julian Francisco also chipped in hits in the game. Donachie threw 4.2 innings and allowed five hits and three runs. Brian LoRusso, Ryan Votypka, and Luke Christy all came on in relief and allowed three hits and three runs.

SUNY New Paltz has two chances to get back in the win column as they take on Mount Saint Mary College on Sunday in a doubleheader.
