POTSDAM, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz women's soccer team concluded its conference schedule with a 2-1 loss at SUNY Potsdam on Saturday.
With the loss, the Hawks fall to 4-11-2 overall and 1-7-1 in the SUNYAC.
SUNY New Paltz got the scoring started in the first half when junior Jess Levinson found the back of the net on an unassisted goal in the 29th minute. The goal was Levinson's first of the season.
The Hawks took their 1-0 lead into the second half before the Bears equalized in the 63rd minute when Lexi Dean scored her 13th goal of the season. Less than six minutes later, Dean struck again, scoring her second goal of the day, which gave the Bears a 2-1 advantage that they would not look back from.
SUNY Potsdam out-shot the Hawks 19-12. Nine of its 19 shots were on target, and eight of SUNY New Paltz's shots were on target. Both goalkeepers had seven saves, and both teams had five corner kick opportunities.
The Hawks will close out their season Tuesday when they face off against Lehman College in a non-conference matchup.
Lehman holds an overall record of 4-10.
