Angulas Earns Gold to Highlight Day 3 of SUNYAC Championship Meet for SUNY New Paltz Swimming

(DAY 3 RESULTS) Buffalo, NY – Chelsea Angulas highlighted Day 3 of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships Friday for the State University of New York at New Paltz swimming team. The junior earned the Hawks their first gold winning performance of the meet after touching in 57.88 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke in Burt Flickinger pool to earn a spot at the top of the podium.

Angulas also helped SUNY New Paltz women's 200-yard medley relay team to a second-place standing, as she,Toure sophomore Lindsay Kranitz and seniors Nicole Lee and Katie Donlevy recorded a time of 1 minute, 47.32 seconds to earn silver in the event, just behind SUNY Geneseo (1:45.94).

Donlevy earned another second place standing in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 57.60 seconds behind the Knights' Deidra Osula (56.95). Kranitz took third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.50), while Lee and senior Jaimie Kaefer each owned fourth-place standings in their respective events. Lee swam the 100 backstroke in 59.55 seconds, while Kaefer registered a time of 4:38.84 in the 400-yard individual medley, with three SUNY Geneseo in front of her.

Freshman Luke Gamboli highlighted the men's side for the Hawks, as he took fifth in the 100 butterfly (52.05), while also helping SUNY New Paltz men's 200 medley relay team to fourth place after he, junior Yaya Toure, freshman Akiva Garfield and sophomore Nolan West clocked in at 1:36.56.

The Hawks head into the final day of the conference meet with both the men and women sitting in fourth place. The SUNYAC Championships concludes its final session Saturday at 10 a.m.
