SUNY New Paltz Men's Soccer's Gordon-Somers-Archer Signs Contract with FC Miami City

| By:
New Paltz, NY – State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer senior Sebastian Gordon-Somers-Archer made his post-graduate career official, as he signed with FC Miami City Wednesday afternoon of the USL League Two.

"It feels amazing. Growing up, everyone always tells you, 'continue to play soccer, enjoy it, never give it up,' and that is what I kind of did," said Gordon-Somers-Archer. "Then being given this opportunity after having such a successful season with this program and then continue and being able to try out for teams – having that opportunity alone is the most gratifying and awesome experience. It makes it better that I never thought it would happen. It happens and then its like, 'Wow. This is actually for real.'"

FC Miami City competes in the Southeast Conference of USL League Two, formally known as the Professional Developmental League, which is sponsored by United Soccer Leagues in the U.S and Canada. There are 72 teams and more than 1,800 players nationwide who competes.

Gordon-Somers-Archer will play his home games at Tropical Park Stadium in Miami, FL and will show off his talents in front of an abundance of scouts from both Major League Soccer and international play.

Although the USL League Two season starts up in April with 14 regular season games currently scheduled, Gordon-Somers-Archer will make his debut with the club in May a day after walking to receive his diploma.

"Overall, the whole experience is very exciting. I am a little nervous, but I am also excited to get out there and show everyone what New Paltz is all about," he said.

Gordon-Somers-Archer had a stellar final season for the Hawks, leading his team to a No. 2 seed in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoffs, which was followed by a myriad of accolades. The Forest Hills, NY native earned SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year to go along with a First-Team All-SUNYAC nod, while also being named All-Region and becoming the first Scholar All-America recipient in program history.
