Cortland, NY – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) named SUNY New Paltz freshman
Katie Quagliana as the SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week Monday following a highlight start to her rookie campaign.
Quagliana made her collegiate debut in the Hawks' season opener Wednesday against Stevens Institute of Technology, getting the start in the circle. The freshman from East Amherst, NY pitched

4.2 innings, giving up just one hit with two strikeouts in a 4-3 win over the Ducks. She was inserted back in the circle in the second game of the double header against Stevens after the Hawks went down 3-2 early in the third inning. Quagliana stepped in and threw another 4.2 innings, giving up just five hits and one earned run with four strikeouts in the 8-4 win.
Over the Hawks' four games thus far in Florida at the PFX Spring Games tournament, Quagliana got the start against Allegheny College. She pitched 5.1 innings, giving up just seven hits in the 13-6 win. She currently leads SUNY New Paltz in ERA (3.07), inning's pitched (14.2), and WHIP (1.06), while also keeping a spotless 3-0 record on the season.
