Cortland, NY – For the second time this season, State University of New York at New Paltz freshman pitcher
Katie Quagliana was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week following a career weekend.
Quagliana's impressive first year continued this past weekend when the Hawks played their first conference games of the season against defending SUNYAC Champions SUNY Geneseo Friday and The College at Brockport Saturday. Quagliana delivered her first career no-hitter, just the sixth ever in program history and fourth-ever individual no-hitter in program history. Amber Carozza was the last individual Hawk to throw a no hitter back in 2013, while Katie Rutcofsky and Meg Brewer, and Meg Brewer and
Lauren Cappello combined for no-hitters back in the 2015 season.
Against the Knights, Quagliana blanked the defending conference winners, throwing all seven innings without letting up a run or a hit throughout, while only giving up two walks with a strikeout in a 2-0 victory. Facing 25 batters in the outing, she forced eight fly outs and 12 ground outs to complete the game one win for SUNY New Paltz.
She followed up that outing the next day against the Golden Eagles, pitching another complete game in the extra-inning, 4-3 victory. On top of delivering the win on the mound, Quagliana helped tie the game in bottom of the seventh inning after drawing a walk that was eventually batted in by
Meagan Blair to force extra

innings. She then sealed the victory for her team and herself in the bottom of the eighth inning, coming up to bat with two outs and lead-off hitter
Taylor LaFrance on second with an opportunity to put away a SUNY New Paltz rally, which had trailed 3-0 at one point in the game. Quagliana hit a clutch RBI single to left center, which brought LaFrance home on a close play at the plate to seal the walk-off for the Hawks. She earned the win, while tossing eight innings, allowing just seven hits, three runs and two walks with three strikeouts in the game. The victory was her seventh of the season, which currently leads all of SUNYAC.
Quagliana and SUNY New Paltz is back in action Wednesday as they host Mount Saint Mary College in a double header at Mary Gray Deane Field starting at 3 p.m.
